"The fact that you’re struggling doesn't make you a burden. It doesn't make you unloveable or undesirable or undeserving of care. It doesn't make you too much or too sensitive or too needy. It makes you human. Everyone struggles. Everyone has a difficult time coping, and at times, we all fall apart. During these times, we aren't always easy to be around — and that’s okay. No one is easy to be around one hundred percent of the time. Yes, you may sometimes be unpleasant or difficult. And yes, you may sometimes do or say things that make the people around you feel helpless or sad. But those things aren't all of who you are and they certainly don’t discount your worth as a human being. The truth is that you can be struggling and still be loved. You can be difficult and still be cared for. You can be less than perfect, and still be deserving of compassion and kindness."

— Daniel Koepke

Been lagging behind terribly on blogging because I've been really lazy (hah, blame Running Man!) and I've been out and about quite a bit whiling time away. I have plenty of photos to blog, and a lot of things to update about (including a near encounter with a court case hahaha!) Life has been quite okay recently, been spending this time of unemployment (lol) meeting old friends and catching up. Life is simple, but life is good.

Tonight Alone In My Room/You Were Here Just Yesterday

The scariest thing about distance is that you don’t know whether they’ll miss you or forget you.
- Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

In order to move on, you must understand why you felt what you did and why you no longer need to feel it.
- Mitch Albom, Five People You Meet in Heaven

As time goes on, you’ll understand. What lasts, lasts; what doesn't, doesn't. Time solves most things. And what time can’t solve, you have to solve yourself.
- Haruki Murakami, Dance, Dance, Dance

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.
- Pablo Neruda

"BEFORE YOU DIAGNOSE YOURSELF WITH DEPRESSION OR LOW SELF-ESTEEM, FIRST MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE NOT, IN FACT, JUST SURROUNDING YOURSELF WITH ASSHOLES."

"Once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about."

A Sick Sadness that Permeates the Soul

"I felt like crying but nothing came out. It was just a sort of sad sickness, sick sad, when you can’t feel any worse. I think you know it. I think everybody knows it now and then. But I think I have known it pretty often, too often."
— Charles Bukowski, Tales of Ordinary Madness

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)

“We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.”

"You can seek the advice of others, surround yourself with trusted advisors. But in the end, the decision is always yours and yours alone. And when it’s time to act and you’re all alone with your back against the wall, the only voice that matters is the one in your head. The one telling you what you already knew. The one that’s almost always right."
-Grey's Anatomy

Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Love isn’t about the romantic nights or gifts. It isn’t about fireworks going off around you when you have that first, real, kiss. Love isn’t about kissing in the rain and dancing beneath the stars. It isn’t about the big moments or the big surprises. Love is not a fairytale. Love is about still having the butterflies after years. It’s about the second looks and laying in bed wide awake, all night, because you can’t go to sleep mad at each other. It’s about being willing to sacrifice, literally, everything for someone, just because you care so deeply for them. It’s not about buying them gifts, but it’s about leaving them little presents here and there, just to remind them that you are constantly thinking about them. Love is about all of the little things, that add up to really big things. Love is rare and special, but should not be treated as if it will break. Love needs to be thrown around and beat up a little bit, worn in, but not worn down. Love needs to be a comfortable feeling, a place to go when NO ONE else in the world can relate. A safe place, where you know that no matter how ugly you look or how angry you are, you will still be… loved.

"第一次克服恐懼

The Rescue - Nicholas Sparks

Just a few of my favorite excerpts from a book I just completed today :)

"You're going to come across people in your life who say all the wring words at all the right times. But in the end, it's always their actions you should judge them by. It's actions, not words, that matter."

  •
"Mitch pointed to his balding head. "I used to have a full head of hair. And I'd still have it if you weren't such a damn daredevil. Every time you do something crazy, I can feel my little hairs committing suicide by jumping right out of my head and plunging all the way to my shoulders. If you listen carefully, you can sometimes hear them screaming all the way down. You know what it's like going bald? having to put sunscreen on top of your head when you go outside? Getting liver sports where you used to part your hair? it doesn't do much for the old ego, if you know what I mean. So you owe me.""

Haha this excerpt is funny.

  •
"He finally admitted to himself that despite Mitch's death, despite everything, he hadn't been able to stop thinking about her. Like an apparition, her image had flashed through his mind over and over, but he'd forced it away with stubborn resolve. Now, though, it was impossible. With startling clarity he saw her expression as he'd fixed her cupboard doors, he heard her laughter echo across the porch, he could smell the faint scent of her shampoo in her hair. She was here with him.. and yet she wasn't. Nor woulds he ever be again. The realization made him feel emptier than he'd ever felt before."

For some reason I have a strange need to type out my favorite excerpts of books I've just read.. Maybe because this is the way I preserve memories of them.

Feel a compelling need to type out my feelings about certain issues.. But.. Ah well shall see!

"My daddy used to tell me the first time you fall in love, it changes your life forever, and no matter how hard you try, the feeling never goes away. This girl you bee tellin' me about was your first love. And no matter what you do, she'll stay with you forever."
-The Notebook, Nicholas Sparks

Photobucket

My friend on Facebook posted this up and I took a look.
Such a timely reminder for me. Sometimes I find it so hard to acknowledge the fact that the only constant is change - as time passes, circumstances change and so do people. Feelings change, personalities change; everything changes.
It's something that I must really face up to, as much as I don't want to.

I need to acknowledge the fact that time has passed, and people change. Just because they were like that last time doesn't mean that they will still be like that.

Yes I must!

Okay very pointless blog post and I am lagging on my blogging debt very, very badly ):

Books..

Ray Bradbury in an interview (Paris Review, 2010)

My favourite excerpt from an interview currently! I love books. I love the smell of books. In my dream home, I'll have a room filled with bookshelves full of books. I'll have my own mini library at home and add a book to my collection every weekend. It doesn't matter if I don't have time to read it then, because when I retire, my husband (haha ambitious) and I will explore our little book collection (: Dream life haha. I'd go book shopping every weekend now but unfortunately.. Limited resources (money and space) so the library would have to do I guess! Been far too long since I've last picked up a really good book and read it. You know that feeling? That feeling of devouring a book from cover to cover. I miss that.

Finals are in two days. TWO DAYS. I can't wait for Summer to be over. PSY 351 is the worst module I've done in my entire one year at UB. Granted I'd been complaining about MUS a lot but I would honestly rather plan 10 concerts than to study PSY 351. Neuroscience is not my cup of tea. At least MUS was fun and enriching. I don't really see how studying these neurotransmitters is 'fun and enriching'. I want fall 2011 to come soooooon! No more Summer please!

It has been quite a long time since I last took photos too! Am lagging behind on my blogging debt again. What's new~ Life is too happz to many photos to blog ah hahahaha. No time to get my new lens ): See school (or rather PSY 351) is sucking up my whole lifeeeeeee.

Need to go shopping! Omg I think I forgot how town looks like already -_- Okay I wanted to blog something else but I can't remember what 'cause I got distracted. My working memory (short term memory B) heheh geeky not?) not working -_-

All Time Low - Coffeeshop Soundtrack

Should I write myself out of the history books
And mark a place in time for every chance you took?
Don't get me wrong,
I know you've got your life in place
I've yet to take the hint, someday
I'm sure I'll get the picture
And stop waiting up

When it all comes down
To a sunrise on the East Side,
Will you be there to carry home
The remains of my wasted youth?
This wasted time on you
Has left me shaking in waiting,
Shaking in waiting for something more

Tonight is alive with the promise of a street-fight,
And there's money on the table
That says your cheap shots won't be able
To break bones
I've yet to break a sweat
I'll make your past regret its future
Here's to you

When it all comes down
To a sunrise on the East Side,
Will you be there to carry home
The remains of my wasted youth?
This wasted time on you
Has left me shaking in waiting
For something more

Make all of my decisions for me
I've never taken the fall for deceit
I'll keep a secret if you keep me guessing
The taste of your lips says we shouldn't have met like...

Make all of my decisions for me
I've never taken the fall for deceit
We'll keep a secret if you keep me guessing
The taste of your lips says we shouldn't have met like this

I can keep a secret if you can keep me guessing
The flavor of your lips is enough to keep me pressing
For more than just a moment of truth between the lies told
To pull ourselves away from the lives we leave back
(I can keep a secret if you can keep me guessing)
The flavor of your lips is enough to keep me here, keep me here

When it all comes down
To a sunrise on the East Side,
Will you be there to carry me home?
The remains of my wasted youth,
This wasted time on you,
Has left me shaking in waiting
For something more

Can't wait to burn my 351 textbook on Thursday! (Who am I kidding, I'd rather sell it off :p) Back to the books now goodbye folks :D

The Gift.

"People, like houses, hold their secrets. Sometimes the secrets inhabit them, sometimes they inhabit their secrets. They wrap their arms tight to hug them close, twist their tongues around the truth. But after time truth prevails, rises above all else. It squirms and wriggles inside, grows until the swollen tongue can't wrap itself around the lie any longer, until the time comes when it needs to spit the words out and sent truth flying through the air and crashing into the world. Truth and time always work alongside one another.

This story is about people, secrets and time. About people who, not unlike parcels, hide secrets, who cover themselves with layers until they present themselves to the right ones who can unwrap them and see inside. Sometimes you have to give yourself to somebody in order to see who you are. Sometimes you have to unravel things to get to the core."

The Gift, Cecelia Ahern.
